Seattle Public Utilities Selects Innovyze Smart Water Network Modeling Technology
InfoWater To Support Comprehensive Geospatial Water Infrastructure Management for Washington’s Largest Waterworks
Broomfield, Colorado, USA, May 27, 2014 — Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) in Washington has chosen the company’s industry-leading InfoWater to support its large-scale, enterprise-wide geospatial water distribution network modeling and management needs. The purchase will enable SPU to address critical planning, design, operational, and water quality issues with maximum effectiveness as it optimizes capital improvement programs and improves customer service.
SPU delivers about 140 million gallons of water per day to about 1.4 million people within the greater Seattle metropolitan region of King County and portions of southern Snohomish County. Its water supply system, the largest in Washington State, consists of surface water reservoirs on the Cedar River and South Fork Tolt River and two well fields providing groundwater to supplement the two surface water supply sources during peak demand seasons and emergencies. It includes state-of-the-art water treatment facilities for the Cedar and South Fork Tolt source waters, and in-town disinfection facilities at reservoirs and well sites. The regional and sub-regional water transmission systems include approximately 193 miles of pipeline, seven covered reservoirs, 15 pump stations, six elevated tanks and standpipes, and 129 wholesale customer taps with meters. The distribution system contains more than 1,680 miles of water mains, six covered reservoirs, 16 pump stations, six elevated tanks and standpipes, 21,000 valves, and 18,920 fire hydrants, as well as more than 188,000 service lines and meters serving individual residential and non-residential properties in the retail service area.
