Tucson AZ Selects Innovyze Geocentric Smart Water Network Modeling Solution
Innovyze InfoWater Will Support Comprehensive Geospatial Water Infrastructure Management for Arizona’s Second-Largest City
Broomfield, Colorado, USA, April 23, 2013 — Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that the Tucson Water Department (Tucson Water), Arizona, has chosen the company’s industry-leading InfoWater suite to support its large-scale enterprise-wide geospatial water distribution network modeling and management needs. The purchase equips Tucson Water with a full range of high-performance ArcGIS-centric (Esri, Redlands, CA) water infrastructure analysis and management capabilities. These advantages will enable the enterprise to address critical planning, design, operational, security, and water quality issues with maximum effectiveness; optimize its capital improvement program; and improve customer service.
Tucson Water is responsible for providing safe potable water service to over 70% of the population of the Tucson metropolitan area (approximately 709,000 customers) within a 350 square-mile service area. Its potable system is composed of more than 200 active production wells, 4,500 miles of pipes, 121 booster stations, and 59 storage facilities capable of storing nearly 306 million gallons. The system represents a customer investment of more than $1 billion.
“The InfoWater software suite is a key component of our smart water asset management strategy,” said Dean Trammel, P.E., Civil Engineer in the Planning and Engineering Division for Tucson Water. “It will play a significant part in helping us improve our decision-making process and optimize the performance of our water assets throughout their life cycle.
Built atop ArcGIS, InfoWater seamlessly integrates sophisticated predictive analytics, systems dynamics and optimization functionality directly within the powerful ArcGIS setting. From fire flow and water quality simulations, valve criticality and energy cost analysis to pressure zone management and advanced Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm optimization, the InfoWater product suite comes equipped with everything water utility owner-operators need to best plan, design, operate, secure and sustain their distribution systems. The software also serves as a base platform for advanced smart network modeling, operational, capital planning, and asset management extensions. Among these critical applications are IWLive (real-time operations and security), InfoWater UDF (unidirectional flushing); CapPlan (risk-based capital planning); InfoMaster andInfoMaster Mobile (intelligent asset integrity management and condition assessment); InfoWater MSX (multi-species, temperature, and particle transport/deposition modeling); InfoWater BTX (event/particle backtracking); InfoSurge (surge/transient analysis); and Sustainability (carbon footprint calculation).
“Innovyze is very proud to partner in the success of Tucson Water,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, F.ASCE, President and Chief Operating Officer of Innovyze. “Top water utilities are consistently opting for the comprehensive smart water network modeling and management solutions we provide. Worldwide, they are under ever-increasing pressure to improve the management of their aging assets and optimize operational and capital expenditures. Our advanced technology equips them with the ultimate decision support tool for optimal results. Our goal will always be to provide reliable solutions that create the ultimate modeling experience, helping them meet their corporate and strategic goals and achieve world-class performance at breakthrough cost savings.”
